The websites are run by members of the Psychopharmacology and Emotion Research Laboratory. We want as many people as possible to be able to use the websites. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet [opens in new window] has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
HOW ACCESSIBLE THIS WEBSITE IS
We are aware that some parts of the websites are not fully accessible:
- You cannot skip to the main content when using a screen reader.
- There may not be sufficient colour contrast between the foreground (usually text colour) and background colour.
- Some links that open different websites in new tabs or windows are not marked visually.
We are working to address areas where our accessibility needs improvement.

Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
The following items do not comply with the WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria.
- There is no way to skip the repeated content in the page header (for example, a ‘skip to main content’ option). This fails the WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.1.
- There may not be sufficient colour contrast between the foreground (usually text colour) and background colour. This fails the WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3.
- Tables that are being used as a layout structure do not always include a ‘role’ attribute to indicate to screen-readers that it is not really a table. This fails the WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1.
- Not all images have an alternative text description that describes both the objects and the embedded text that the image contains. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1.
- Not all links that open in a new tab or new window explain to screen-readers that this opens in a new tab. This fails the WCAG 2.1 success criterion 3.2.2.
- Not all our PDF’s and Word documents meet accessibility standards.
We aim to improve our website accessibility on a regular and continuous basis.
